Breaking News from the WTRA
Things just aren’t like they used to be. Change can be difficult, but it is necessary for progress. We want you to know that while we LOVE how the WTRA has been in the past, we are constantly thinking ahead to how we can improve.
You may have noticed a few changes recently — starting with this brand new website! We knew with the changes coming at Ropers Sports News that we needed to have a hub where members and prospective members could go for standings updates, upcoming events, news, and more. Thus the website was born!
We also knew how tedious and time consuming the process of printing out membership forms and win sheets, filling them out, and mailing them in could be. We wanted to make it easier than ever for our members to renew memberships and submit win sheets so we created digital forms that can be filled out right on your mobile device and sent in. No printing. No stamps. No trips to the post office. Just pull the win sheet up on your phone, fill it out, have the secretary sign it, and hit submit! EASY PEASY!
You may have also noticed that we have recently added an additional league — the Youth league. We wanted to make sure that all of our members had the same opportunities to place in the standings, and with the WSTR being 21 and over, we decided it was only fair to create a league for those who are unable to compete in those ropings due to age.
We recently shared on social media that we have a date and location secured for our 2024 Finals. Our finals will be held on September 2, 2024 at the H&G Cattle Company Arena in Lemoore, CA. We will be announcing the format for that roping soon!
As we are rebuilding this association after a short hiatus, we have been brainstorming on different types of fundraising events and opportunities. In April of 2025, we will be producing an All Girl event in conjunction with the Red Bluff Round Up. This event will include a Breakaway roping, All Girl Team Roping, and a Handicap Pick or Draw. While we are in the early stages of planning and securing major sponsors, we think this is going to be a really fun event with some AMAZING INCENTIVES for our members! You won’t want to miss it!
There are big things to come for the Women’s Team Roping Association! We want to thank all of you who are members this year and those who have believed in this association despite the challenges we have faced during Covid and now rebuilding back to our former glory! We also greatly appreciate all of your hard work securing sponsors for the association. Here’s to a great 2024 season and a bright future for the WTRA! See you at the Finals in September!
